Mary in Malawi

Out of reality, in to the painting...

So now we landed in Malawi. This paradise on earth. The nature is amazing, completely stunning and breath taking. A perfect mis between jungle and desert, plains and mountains.

The sun went down early, at 5 pm it was totally dark outside. We live in a big stone house, surrounded by giant trees and bushes. We also have a chicken and a dog that comes and visits us =).

people walk along the roads, carrying wood, sugar, plants and stone on their backs... The women are carrying everything on their heads. Giant baskets filled with water or food. Little children catch mice and put them on sticks, trying to sell them to people walking by. . It is an entirely different world than the one I am used to.

We had electricity for about one hour. Then we had a blackout, so now im sitting in the light from a candle, listening to the sounds of the jungle. Hyenas are cryingf from the mountains, a dog is barking somewhere close. Cikados and grasshoppers are playing, and a constans sound of something falling liek rain. But it is not rain, it is little tiny worms that lives in the trees. They fall down when it gets dark, and it really sound like it's raining. If they touch your skin, they burn you. But other wise they are harmless. Actually they are pretty cute.

We have a salamander in the bathroom! =) A brown one, he is a real sweet heart.

But there are A LOT of insects... =( they are practically invading us. And I've used so much anti-bug spray so I think I damaged my throat by breathing it... =( Spiders, moths.... bugs.... Uff. I will now try to hide under my mosquito net....
